And for those of you who don't know Lake Superior, it's generally not a swimming lake. Certainly not much north of Duluth (and we were about 90 miles further up the lake). After all, the average summer temperature of the lake is 40 degrees F. And that's to say nothing of the strong waves. In fact, Eli took to calling it the "Lotion" (as in part lake and part ocean).
But one of the evenings we went down to the shore to hang out and the lake was absolutely still.
So we dipped our toes in and were surprised that it wasn't painfully cold. In fact, it felt great.
And before we knew it, we were in the water.
Splashing.
Getting wet.
Doing more splashing.
Enjoying the forbidden fruit that is Lake Superior.
Just being a wet, messy version of us.
(And no, I am not pregnant. It's just one of those shirts.)
We threw countless rocks.
And created imaginary islands.
And marveled at our increased ability to skip rocks when there are no waves.
We laughed and played and relaxed.
We tested the waters. And they were good.
