Breakfast Snyder 5 Style

We recently received a new pancake kit (you can register to win one, too, by entering here) so we declared Sunday morning a pancake breakfast day.

Brian, when he is actually able to be home, tends to be the (better) chef around here.  So a few years ago for Christmas, my parents got him his own chef's hat (a toque) and coat.  Yes, he actually does wear it.  And no, thankfully, he does not wear the black and white checked chef pants.

Mornings like this, it's more to cover the Sunday morning bed-head hair and "I just rolled out of bed" shirt.

We thought we'd try the Bisquick Melt-In-Your-Mouth Pancakes Supreme recipe.  Here it is:

2 cups Original Bisquick mix
1 cup milk
2 eggs
2 Tbsp sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla

Stir all ingredients until blended.

Melt a small pat of butter on your cast iron skillet (which is a part of the prize giveaway).
Pour slightly less than 1/4 cupfulls onto hot griddle.

Cook until the edges are dry and the pancake is beginning to bubble.
Turn, cook until golden.

Add chocolate chips or blueberries as you like.

Elijah decided to get in on the action, too.  This is how he suggests you flip a pancake.

The finished result.  (And if you're curious about why our bacon is folded in half, you can find out here.)

The pancakes earned the "make it again" vote from the kids.  (And yes, I do eat, but being the classic mom who also blogs, I served everyone and took pictures before I sat down.)
And while Brian still is a fan of his Ina Gerten pancake recipe, we have definitely found a new standby keeper.

Disclaimer: We received the pancake kit from BlogSpark.  If you would like to enter to win one of your own, including a cast iron skillet, pancake mix, mixing bowl and spatula, you can enter to win here.
