A Weekend in the Frozen Tundra

We spent the weekend on Lake Superior.  This is the same spot where the photos in the header were taken.  It looks like an entirely different place in the winter.

I'll let the pictures do most of the talking as they will do it more justice than I ever could.

We ventured down to the rocks.  Which were amazing, coated in inches of thick ice that looked like powered sugar frosting.

Man, I love these guys.

The boys found a slick run of ice and created an ice bowling game. Weekends like this remind me that we really don't need the toys and stuff.  That sometimes less can really be more.

Eli tried to get in on the action, too.  Note how the rock is coming back at him.  He didn't really get the hang of it.

I then went exploring in the cave off to the side of the shore and found the most amazing ice formations inside.

And look!  For once I did more than just hold the camera out to take a self portrait and I actually stepped out from behind the camera.
