Great Wisdom (aka "Mom is Crazy")

My kids have shared with me some great wisdom lately, and I thought I'd pass it along.  You know, share the wealth.

Noah was running through all of the things he had learned at school.

NOAH: You know, we talked about balance and motion in science.  And estimations in math.  And I am readying "Savvy" in independent reading time.  And Mom, did you know something really cool?   If you are ever in a place where you need to store really, really small amounts of food...you know what you can do?  You can store them in your belly button.

(Evidently he hasn't seen my belly button lately.)

Why is my child thinking I might need to store small amounts of food?  Sure, money is tight.  But that is a bit extreme.  And has he seen the way my pants fit lately?  I am storing plenty on my own without even employing the use of my belly button.

And from Caleb while I was making coffee this morning...

CALEB: Mom, I have something important to tell you, ok?  I really don't think you should lick the counter today because there are still all kinds of pieces of food and crumbs and junk and who knows what else all over it from last night.

What?

First, let's just put aside the fact that my kid is commenting on (let along noticing) my inadequacies in the housekeeping department.  Mmmkay?  But he thinks I regularly lick our countertops?

What have we come to?  I know there are moments I feel like a crazy lady.  But evidently I have become one in the eyes of my son, too.

Proud morning.

Oh yeah.  And then, trying to get out of the house, Elijah found Noah's 100 days of school project.  Me, forgetting he is 22-months-old and not always a rational person said, "Elijah, please don't dump that on the floor?  Okay?"

All I can figure is he must have misheard me, right?  Because he promptly opened it and dumped it on the floor.  All 100 pieces.  Of highly static-electricitied (that's a word, right) glitter.  Which he tried to sweep up with his horse.  Well, at least he was trying.
