Tomorrow, thanks to The Marketing Mama, another Minnesota blogger, I will be attending the Minnesota Blogger Volunteer Event.
She has a list on her site of all of the bloggers who are attending with links to their blogs. I have found several great new blogs through her, so check them out.
When I first read about this event a month or so ago, I was simply intrigued by the idea of meeting other people who enjoy writing and happen to live in Minnesota.
Not to mention that the reality of our winter existence is that we all kind of turn into hermits. In fact, when I was pregnant with Eli (from fall 2007 through April 2008) our neighbors never even knew I was pregnant. Nope, not kidding. We leave for work in the dark. We come home in the dark. And we stay inside, or when we leave, we avoid black ice and run to our cars. That is how we hibernate around here. So a chance to get out and do something new in the dead of winter is always welcomed.
There is a social gathering at the beginning followed by and hour and a half of volunteering to prepare meals at Feed My Starving Children.
Little did we know when we all signed up that we would actually be preparing meals that will travel to Haiti. FMSC has a great need for more volunteers (and funds) at their Minnesota and Chicagoland sites, so if you are looking for something to do, please check them out.
And if that weren't enough to get you intrigued about the event, we'll all be wearing hairnets. You can follow tweets about the event here.
