If you want it bad enough, you can make it happen

As a little kid, I have vivid memories of about this time each year.  It's that "WINTER HAS GOT TO BE OVER NOW!" stage.  And as a kid, my brother and I decided there was something we could do about it.  It we personally got rid of the snow, we could will spring here.  So we'd go back outside the house with shovels or buckets or late-winter grubby mittens and shovel show into the alley to watch it melt.
And what do you know, it worked?!  As a kid it never really occurred to me that the changing of the seasons would happen regardless, I liked feeling like I was doing something about it.  And so I have been teaching the kids the same tradition.  We call it "Making Spring Come."
It is gorgeous here today.  Sunny.  50 degrees.  But still plenty of snow sitting in our north facing back yard.  After a very long, very snowy winter, it feels great but that snow has got to go.  So the boys went out with me to help spring hurry up and get here.

Just some photos...

I realized we've been a bit text heavy lately...so in the interest of taking a break from that, here are some of the images from the past few months.
Noah learning how to ski at Como.
A late weekend night after being at our friends, the Taylors.  All three had fallen asleep.  Cute then, getting them all out of the car was another story.
Brian getting a kiss from Elliette.
The brothers skiing.
Caleb snow tubing during winter camp with Cub Scouts.
Caleb and a sled dog at Cub Scout camp.
Mr. E munching on Cheerios (after having trashed an outfit...no we don't dress him in a onesie and pumpkin hat normally)
The older boys are off at Pinewood Derby night with Brian so stay tuned for the results of that :)

Funny Quotes

Two amusing moments from the past day.

First, as I am coming up the stairs last night, laundry basket perched on my hip (as always) I hear Brian guiding the kids through a song.

They are trying to sing, "If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life, never make a pretty woman your wife. So from my personal point of view, get an ugly girl to marry you."

So they were singing it and when they'd miss a word, Brian would kind of coach the kids back on track.

At this point, I was in the room hanging up the never-ending, yet always-in-the-wash supply of little boy pants. And Brian says to the boys:

Brian: So, am I going to be happy for the rest of my life?

Caleb: Nope.

Brian: Why?

Caleb: Because you have us. And we make you crazy.

And then this morning, Noah was eating some yogurt that is the "Fit and Active" brand. Noah continues to read everything he sees outloud which can lead to some funny moments. This morning, he's sitting at the table and says,

"Fit and Active. That is perfect for us. Because we throw fits and we are active."

Indeed, my boy, I hadn't thought about it that way. But, yes it is.
