Validation

Yesterday was a day of great validation for me.  My mom had picked up on my great decluttering project and caught up on things here.

My mom, by the way, is amazing.  Not only did she work full time while we all grew up, she worked full time as a teacher so she was surrounded by kids, and all of their wonderful chaos, all day long.

And man, she kept (and keeps) an AMAZING house.  This is a woman know knows clean and neat.  I am still in awe of how she kept our house together growing up (we were also a family of three kids).  All I can figure is that she didn't sleep.

Anyway, she wrote me a lovely email praising my efforts to clean out and clean up.  Made my night.

Second, I came home last night on what we call "A Theresa Day" at our house.  Theresa is a great family friend and also comes twice a month to clean

I can't say enough about her and the great person (and help) she is.  But lately, I have been finding myself frantically stuffing stuff to try to clean off areas for her to be able to clean.

DING DING DING!  Hello!  That should have alerted me to the clutter issue long ago.  But alas.  I am doing it now, so I won't look back.  That said, yesterday was a Theresa day.  She left this note.

And she had sweetly put a little pile of papers and misc. stuff up on the kitchen desk.  And yes, I promptly dealt with them and put, tossed, recycled or donated them away.

So thanks, Mom and Theresa.  For two people who see my house the most and know my weak spots, it meant a lot.

I am quickly coming to the conclusion that there is just no excuse anymore. I have to do this too. My house is cluttered with stuff....everywhere!
