Not Me Monday - The Holiday "Barfing" Episode

I have enjoyed reading "Not Me Monday" on MckMama's blog for awhile, but never really had any great ideas for what to include.

And then we lived through the last 12 hours.

As some of you saw on Twitter and Facebook, we had our first holiday dinner for the clinic last night.  Now granted, there are only two employees (Brian and Ed) right now, but still.  We wanted to mark this first year.

So Ed, his wife and two girls came to our place for dinner.  Brian had planned a great meal and we were enjoying appetizers and wine when I heard Noah call up from the basement:

"MOOOOOMMMM, CALEB JUST BARFED!"

Lovely.

Brian ran down and started cleaning up and then I took over.  I most definitely did not stay upstairs and hope that Brian would magically get it done on his own.  Nope, not me.

And when that happened, I did not discover that I had no carpet cleaner.  Just two empty cans posing as carpet cleaner.  Nope, not me.

I did not wrap my kid in a washable blanket and tell him if he needed to get sick again and couldn't make it to the bathroom, to toss his cookies in the blanket, because that was washable.  Nope, not me.

I did not just lob the rags into the laundry room and hope they would miraculously get washed on their own.  Nope, not me.

When Caleb got sick a second time, I did not think to myself "Oh poor kid...but dang it, I guess my toilet is dirty now." Nope, not me.

I did not allow Caleb to eat an apple in bed at 4:00 a.m. this morning because he was hungry having not eaten since breakfast yesterday.  Nope, not me.

And I most definitely did not leave that apple core there next to the bed when I went to work this morning.  Nope, not me.

And then, while driving aforementioned kiddo to school (his choosing), when he started to worry "That I might barf again!" in the car, I did not plead with him to give me enough warning so I could pull over and open the slider door on the van so he could get sick outside of the car.  Nope, not me.

As I drove away from school, I did not think to myself, "Yeah, there is no way he is going to make it all day.  Better keep the cell phone near by.  But I am thankful I had enough sense to put him in dark clothes that won't stain easily."  Nope, not me.
