Ooh, I can't wait to hear about the Pinewood Derby! Jon, er, Tommy is competing in a couple of weeks and they've been hard at work. Jon teaches kinesiology at the university so it's been fun for him to translate the physics of human movement into the physics of wood car movement. This project has turned into quite the science lesson. :)
